Brisbane City Council Libraries Powered by Screen Sanity

At Screen Sanity Australia, we believe real change happens in community.

Over the past month, we have had the privilege of partnering with Brisbane City Council Libraries to host workshops for parents and carers across our local library network. These gatherings have been warm, thoughtful, and deeply encouraging. Each one reminds us that while raising kids in a digital world is complex, no parent needs to do it alone.

In each session, we welcomed parents and carers into a safe, judgment free environment. Together, we explored:

  • How technology is shaping childhood
  • Practical ways to set age appropriate boundaries
  • How to create healthy digital norms at home

Our goal is never to prescribe a one size fits all plan. Instead, we offer a compass, not a map. We share principles and frameworks that empower families to make decisions that reflect their own values and stage of life.

Parents are powerful change agents

One of the most powerful moments in every workshop is when parents realise they are not the only ones feeling uncertain or overwhelmed.

Many arrive carrying quiet questions:

  • How are other families handling this?
  • How do I manage my  child’s mental and physical health with digital technology in the mix?
  • What do I do with my family’s digital health?!?”

When those questions are voiced in community, something shifts. Parents begin to see their influence clearly again. They leave reminded that they are their child’s most important guide in the digital world.

At Screen Sanity, we believe parents are powerful change agents and that stepping into the arena, even imperfectly, matters. Small steps taken together can build into meaningful cultural change.

More than information. A shared language.

Our workshops introduce families to the START framework, a simple and practical way to think about digital health at home. Rather than focusing only on limits, START helps families build intentional habits around screens, relationships, rest, and real world connection.

Screen Sanity sessions are not about fear. They are about hope.

We promote action over perfection. Grace over guilt. Connection over control. This is central to who we are and how we serve families

Why this matters

Parents often tell us they feel like the only one holding boundaries. They worry their child will be left out. They feel pressure from culture and comparison.

When parents gather in a local community  and discover others who share their concerns and values, isolation begins to fade. Conversations start. New norms begin to form.

This is how a stronger culture of digital wellness grows. One family. One conversation. One community at a time.
